Default What Hero Skills

Hi There.

Im fairly new and started in Nightfall. I am an Ele/ Monk, currently focusing on Fire (only have Heal Party from Monk on the bar + Flare, Fireball, Fire Storm, Gl Less Eng, Intensity, Aura of Rest, Rez).

I unlocked the 1st three heros. A warrior, monk and MOX. Currently I have the skills below.

What is the best way to control the heros? Can I just let the AI control them or is it recommended "micro-managing" (eg activating skills manually) them in fights?

Any recommendations re skills?
Thanks.

Your new so your not gonna have a lot of open skills to put onto their bars. For the most part hero builds will be made so you won't have to micro-manage anything. Unless you need a very specific skill to be used like maintained enchantments or something. If you are doing areas where you have level 20 henchman it's probably best to use those until you unlock enough skills/ elites for heroes to outperform the henchman.

For lower level areas you probably won't need your monk hero and their skills are fine for low level areas. For your monk you should go /ele and stick glyph of lesser energy if you keep any 10 energy spells. The monk should probably remove heal party and infuse health, orison is cheap enough to be spammed easily and healing breeze isn't that great. But again you should probably only use those heroes if your in lower level areas where henchman aren't level 20.

http://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page That link if you go to the heroes great/ good section will give you a general idea of skills to put on which heroes. Yes I know they aren't all that and a bag of chips and you should customize for areas your going into but they work.

The main thing to remember is that Heroes are stupid... therefore many of the skills you give them they wont use correctly, such as Heal Party. Heal Party can potentially mean the difference between a full party wipe, and a perfect run if used correctly (not saying it will, just that if used correctly its a great skill.) However, used incorrectly (eg spammed, not used when the majority need it, not using proper e-management) can CAUSE a party wipe due to casting it when a stronger spike heal is needed, or by not having the energy.

Overall, a couple of things I would mention... dont trust a hero to use frenzy correctly, especially without a cancel stance. Either throw in a cancel stance of some sort, or get rid of frenzy. Flail is available early on from hero skill trainers (i believe), and in NM is more then adequate for heroes, wihtout the deadly side effect of frenzy. Personally dont like final thrust in pve, because things dont need the spike side of it, but thats more personal preference. Other then that looks fine.

The monk... If you want to take rez on ur monk thats fine, however 2 slots is a bit of overkill. With sigs on both the heroes and urself you should be fine with just resurrect (or a better reusable rez which is available later on) on the monk. That would free up a slot. Again, like frenzy Infuse Health is an amazing skill that is terrible when used incorrectly. I wouldnt trust a hero using it (bar the ERenewal Bar, which obviously you cant use yet). I cant remember what skills you would have access to being early game nightfall, but im pretty sure shield of absorption is nightfall, and isnt a bad skill, nor would a condition removal go away (dismiss is nightfall and is probably the most consistent condition removal barring elites). Id probably throw glyph of lesser energy on there for some e management, but other then that it seems fine.

The dervish. If you can get Heart of Fury in one of the empty slots for an IAS thats awesome, otherwise pretty much any skill can go in that slot. Hard to say what you will actually want without knowing what u have unlocked.

Also know that every time u gain a rank in either sunspear or lightbringer title you gain a hero skill point which allows you to unlock a skill (and i believe gain it for yourself) without costing gold.

I agree with things stated above, plus I'd say go secondary monk on both derv and war for a reusable res instead of res signet. Also, once your monk has enough lvl to be able to able to split attribute points a little more, I'd recommend adding some protective spells to the bar - you should have access to at least protective spirit, guardian already on the island 9for most skills you will have to get to mainland though).

Have a read of the Basic Guide to Using Heroes and also some other threads in the builds section may be of interest:
